The korimako (more commonly known as bellbird) can be found in many gardens and forests around New Zealand. It is a member of the honey eater family which also consists of the tui and the stitchbird. They are one of the few native birds that have done well since man and introduced pests arrived.

“This wild melody was infinitely superior to any that we had heard of the same kind; it seemed to be like small bells most exquisitely tuned…” - Captain James Cook
