I have always been fascinated with Kakapo. They seem to break all of the norms when it comes to being a bird. They are technically a parrot, but only come out at night. They cant fly and they dig small depressions in the ground in mating season to create a booming sound in the hopes of attracting a mate. Not your average parrot! There is a lot of work being done to keep these birds from falling into extinction on the remote Codfish Island.
