Stitchbirds and Bellbirds

Sam Clark

$40.00

I was inspired to create this piece after a visit to Kapiti island, where Stichbirds (Hihi) and Bellbirds (Korimako) are competing with each other for food sources. They are both from the honeyeater family of birds (as are Tui). It is amazing going to see them interacting at the man made bird feeders on the island. Stitchbirds are mainly restricted to offshore islands. I entered this work into the Tauranga national art awards and was selected for the final exhibition.
